It is with some sadness, on our part, that Iorwerth left for pastures new last Thursday.
Now 87, Iorwerth left Barmouth for Ruthin to be nearer children and grandchildren. As next door neighbours for just over 7 years we have developed a friendship, enough for me to say “I know that story” and for Iorwerth not to be offended!
It is almost 50 years ago that Iorwerth bought what was then known as Bryn Mynach from Lady Russon (Gladys Nellie), with a lot of surrounding land and properties/buildings. Iorwerth has been a prolific accidental property developer in the area as many lots were sold off for development over the years. But his fondest nonfamilial local memories are of running the old Bryn Mynach as the Tower House School until the early 2000s. The last remaining bits of the original purchase were split into three, Twr Mynach, Tre Mynach and Penbryn Mynach and run as holiday lets from about 2005. In early 2012 Penbryn Mynach was sold to us and Tre Mynach to Deb and Paul; and all of us were quickly very fond of Iorwerth. I will be off to see Iorwerth in Ruthin in the very near future.
I met the new owners of Twr Mynach on Monday. Exhausted and slightly daunted by what they have bought, you could see the excitement in the eyes of Pav and Henri. I wish them the best and I am sure new friendships will develop.
