The accommodation comfortably sleeps and dines 12 guests in 6 double bedrooms. Small children are very welcome and there is a cot available for babies and highchairs/step-up stools for toddlers.
Downstairs is a very spacious lounge with wood burner, seating for 12 and a further large table area with six chairs. Separate dining room for 12. Well equipped kitchen with backdoor leading to patio. The entrance is via the conservatory which comes into its own in spring and summer when you can see the sun set over the sea. Finally there are a couple of cloakroom areas and a downstairs toilet.
On the first floor are the six double bedrooms. They are all numbered as it can be confusing in your first few days! There are two double bedrooms with king size bed having firm mattress and ensuite shower room/toilet. There is one further double bedroom with king size bed having a softer mattress. Then there are three twin bedded rooms, one with en-suite shower room/toilet. There is also a separate bathroom/toilet (shower over bath).
Smaller number of guests will be even more comfortable and the three double bedrooms and three twins can be configured to suit 9 beds, 10 beds or 11 beds. For 8 guests or fewer there is a small party discount at all times of year.
On special request, we can possibly accommodate slightly larger groups off-peak.
Penbryn Mynach was originally built in the late 19th century and together with Twr Mynach next door, the whole building was the original Bryn Mynach. In recent times, it formed part of the old Tower House School in Barmouth, an independent school run for thirty years from the mid 1970s. It was spectacularly but sympathetically converted into its current use as a holiday let in 2005 and is now very much still its original self yet a surprisingly modern self catering cottage. There are a couple of signs of its former use as a school; the old gym bars have been re-used at the top of the stairs and there are a rather large number of coat pegs!
We are continually improving Penbryn Mynach’s facilities. We have an annual painting program where we rotate around the house; most places have now been painted twice since we bought the property (2012). In 2014 we added a large patio area outside the back kitchen door, and upgraded broadband to the recently available BT Infinity (60Mbps download/20Mbps upload!). In 2015/2016 we added a shed and a covered area to store bicycles and/or to allow a separate den area for children. As of May 2017 we are upgrading the flight of outdoor steps that lead to the higher part of the garden. We continually update the large appliances, audio-visual equipment, furniture and beds. We hope you will agree that Penbryn Mynach is one of the best Barmouth self catering experiences. Please do pop by and like us on our Facebook page or Twitter account.
